A Warm Welcome to WWA

As children leave our school at the end of year 6, they do so as positive young people who understand the importance of their own physical and mental health and are fully-prepared for the next chapter of their lives. Under the guidance of our dedicated, caring and highly skilled staff, the children learn to embrace the many challenges they face both individually and collectively, aiming high in their ambitions. Ultimately, our curriculum is driven by this approach and our pupils articulate their achievements by referencing one or more of our four key values: Aspiration, Engagement, Resilience and Wellbeing.

Alongside the academic excellence that we strive for, we take a thorough and holistic approach towards the children and families that we serve, including parents and carers in school life as much as possible. We believe in positive, sustainable and honest relationships between school staff, pupils and families and building these relationships begins immediately. Our team includes family support for special educational needs, safeguarding, healthcare and attendance, as well as a trained pastoral team who support children’s mental health and emotional literacy. We believe that if a child is safe, happy and healthy, they are in the best position to learn and therefore, ensuring this is our first priority.

We welcome our new pupils into school with strong, well-organised transition arrangements as well as the after-support that some pupils need, once in school, in order to establish the all-important relationships on which our work is based. We will begin to get to know your child before they have even applied for a place at White’s Wood Academy, visiting them in their previous setting to ensure that they feel confident and comfortable at our school even before their first day.

A very warm welcome to you all. We look forward to enjoying your fantastic journey at White’s Wood Academy with you.
